Your Unparalleled Plastic Surgery Experience

There has always been a desire for men and women to look younger. While we know there was never a “Fountain of Youth,” medical advancements have given us the ability to, in a way, turn back the clock. Increasingly popular solutions such as Botox®, dermal fillers, and chemical peels (to name a few) provide a non-surgical, temporary regenerative treatment option for patients. However, some of the most effective procedures are those that last longer and involve surgery – one of the most popular being, the facelift. Disclaimer: Results are not guaranteed for all patients, as outcomes and experience will vary based on each unique, individual person. Read our full disclaimer here.

The Facelift

A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to address sagging facial skin, loose neck skin, and jowls by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, and re-draping the skin of your face and neck. A facelift can be done alone or with other common procedures such as a browlift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

Is a Facelift Right for You?

Because gravity and the aging process affect individuals at different stages in their lives, there is no “right” or “perfect time” to start thinking about a facelift. Both men and women who are concerned about improving the signs of facial aging are potential candidates for a facelift*. Talk to your doctor or plastic surgeon to ensure you’re healthy enough for surgery.

As I mentioned previously, there are several procedures to consider; so, how do you know a facelift is what you are looking for versus any of the non-surgical procedures like Botox® or another surgical feature like eye or brow lifts? When it comes to deciding on a facelift, my patients are typically experiencing one or more of the following which can’t be taken care of without surgery:

  • Sagging skin, muscles, and fat in the face and neck
  • Excess skin and fat on the neck
  • Sagging jaw line
  • Crease lines along the nose, mouth, and chin

Finding the Right Surgeon

A facelift is surgery; finding the right doctor is extremely important. Remember, a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon are not the same. While it’s true that all plastic surgeons are cosmetic surgeons, the reverse is not true. Plastic surgeons are trained in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body (some are facial plastic surgeons only). A cosmetic surgeon, however, may have a completely different kind of training. Find a doctor that wants to provide a thorough education to you – who wants you to understand what a facelift procedure will mean and what to expect before, during, and after the procedure.
