A PDO Max thread lift is one of the most popular and effective non-invasive alternatives to a facelift procedure. The procedure involves biocompatible sutures that lift tissues in the face while simultaneously triggering new collagen growth. This procedure is able to achieve an instant lift, making the patient look several years younger by smoothing out fine lines and improving contours in the cheeks, jawline, and neck.

What is a PDO thread lift?

A PDO thread lift is a procedure that utilizes specialized dissolvable threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO).  The threads are placed deep inside the facial skin by way of a thin blunt-tipped cannula. Once these threads have been inserted into the skin, it lifts the skin to a more youthful position, creating a tightening effect. This process eventually leads to an increase in collagen production, and patients experience fewer wrinkles down the line.

What are the different types of PDO thread lifts?

PDO Thread Lift with barbed threads

These threads have small barbs which make it possible for sagging skin in the cheek, jawline, and neck region to be lifted.  This approach achieves more pronounced results that are visible almost immediately. This approach is also able to stimulate collagen production at a high level.

With this technique, the threads have no barbs and can be placed both horizontally and vertically within the skin. Inserting the threads in a mesh pattern has great benefits, including better skin tightening and a major reduction in wrinkles.

What are the benefits of a PDO Max thread lift?

Some benefits of a PDO thread lift include:

  • Short in-office procedure
  • Quick recovery
  • Less downtime than a facelift
  • Minor side effects (bruising and swelling) dissipate within 2 weeks
  • Addresses both sagging skin and fine lines
  • No scarring
  • Immediate results

What can be expected from a PDO MAX thread lift?

A PDO Max thread lift utilizes an FDA-approved thread inside of a cannula.  To start the procedure, the practitioner administers a local anesthetic to the treatment area.  A very small needle is then used to create an opening through which the threads can be inserted. The threads are then adjusted to achieve the ideal amount of lift and desired facial aesthetic by the patient.

Who is an ideal candidate for a PDO Max thread lift?

Ideal candidates for a PDO Max Thread Lift are those who want to achieve a lift and overall rejuvenation in their faces but are not ready to undergo a facelift procedure. Beyond this criteria, patients should:

  • Be non-smokers
  • Be in good physical and mental health (no active Hepatitis B or C, HIV, Scleroderma, Sarcoidosis, Amyloidosis)
  • Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Not have a hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to surgical sutures, Lidocaine, Novocain, or Xylocaine
  • Have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure

What is the recovery time after a PDO thread lift?

Considering that the PDO Thread Lift is not a surgical procedure, it comes with a very quick recovery period.  There are no scalpels or stitching used during the treatment which means no scarring for the patient.  Patients will be given some guidelines to follow after their procedure to ensure a quick recovery period.  Any discomfort post procedure can be easily alleviated with over the counter pain medications.
